Yesterday,
60 years ago in 1954, PT Argapura was established by my late Father, Jahja
Halim.
Argapura
started as an importing Agent of NV Sien Bie Kong Sie located in Semarang, a
town in middle Java(peta Semarang) where I was born. During that time only companies in Jakarta could do import
business.
Our
lines of business were all kinds of everything, from importing cars,
refrigerators, shoes, fountain pens, toys, concrete mesh wires to flours,
all kinds of paper, especially cigarette paper. NPT was already one of
Argapura’s business partners, mainly dealing in papers. Soon,
Argapura opened branch offices in The Haque, Osaka and Duesseldorf.
After
more than 10 years of absence of leadership, I came back from Germany to find
Argapura in the brink of collapse. Its only business shrank to cigarette paper
booklets only. It practically runs by itself, generating still a handsome
income and keeps a number of people employed.
Beside
automotive Department, I started 40 years ago creating tea bag department.
Having principals such as Glatfelter, USA, IMA Italy and Mai SA,
Argentina (boleh kasi foto2 machines one picture with various Companies).
Soon, this department
gave birth to our young printing Company Corona Printing Asia, producing tea
tags for the major teabag industry in the region and exporting among others to
other South East Asian and African countries.
60th Anniversary of PT. Argapura was held in Sofitel Luxury Hotel in Nusadua - Bali.
